Running out of things to do.
« on: July 31, 2010, 05:38:24 PM »
But mabye that's because all I have to work with are rails that are smaller than me and a small picnic table.

Any suggestions on what I could do?

Are you without vehicle or other transportation? Where are you that you don't have anything else around you? No trees? No schools? No city?

I have a bike.

And basically within two miles that's all I have.

I live in an area kind of like that. I have a car, but don't always have access to it. I don't know how long you have been doing parkour, or how good you are, but I started about 2 months ago. Long story short, I thought there was nothing around me ( I live in a small town) until I met up with some experienced traceurs and got my imagination going. Playgrounds, trees, walls, just look around with a creative eye. I'm sure there is more, if you know what to look for.
The only thing that keeps me going is movement.

i'm crippled and keep noticing parkour spots but i cant use them :(
maybe not a good idea to hurt yourself :P
but you should try looking a little harder or better yet, go for a run and let nothing get in your way, try to adapt :)

Build a vault box if all else fails. I used one I liked at parkour visions, and I'm gonna contact them today to get instructions. I'll email them to you if you want.

What I do if go for walks around my neighborhood specifically to spot out potential training spots, I  find so much stuff it’s ridiculous, even though a lot of its private property  :P

Also, what kind of neighborhood are you living in? Rural? Suburban? Definitely not urban by the sound of it though.

Your roll could always use work.
And your handstand.
And I agree with Kyle and Josh- tricking.
And you could work flexibility.
And you could do strength training.
And you can do endurance training.
And you can work balance.
And there's gotta be a wall somewhere near you. The side of your house? Work on wallruns.
And precisions.
And quadrupedal movement.
And cat balance on rails. (I think that's what its called. Hands and feet on rail. Balancing and walking)
Work on all the vaults.
Make up your own movements. Try to find effective ways to cross obstacles.
You can always use trees.

I'm just kinda thinking of stuff as I go along. Hope this helps. Haha

Find the nearest person to you who trains. A big part of parkour is the people you meet. Even if it's a couple hours drive away, what you find will definitely be worth it.

better start running, eventually you will build up enough strength and stamina so you can run 5 miles straight and not think twice.

or you could climb trees, do QM, stretch, condition and strength train.

my mind is constantly moving, one day my body will be strong enough to keep up.
