I'll answer with an actual legitimate response, instead of jumping [pun intended] to conclusions.

First off, try to hook up with someone more experienced in your area. They would be able to get you started on the right track better than we can on here. Check out the local boards that can be found lower on the main forum page. They're organized by region and state, so if you're from, say... Indiana, you would look in the Midwest board, click on the Indiana link. If you're lucky enough to live in a major city, like umm... Indianapolis, you will likely find a few threads in the Indiana board discussion training sessions, etc, that are happening in and around Indianapolis.

Other than that, my best advice is to read around as much as you can. No one can give you a simple, one-step, "this is what you have to do to get better" answer. Watch videos too. Not just showreels... try to find longer, documentary-style videos that will teach you more about parkour and free running instead of just people showing off their moves.

Good luck man! Be sure to send me a message if you have any more specific questions about training.

Have a great day! :)

I think my Trollometer is broken. It hasn't gone off in a while.

There are times when you want to break down and rage at the heavens. Don't. Stay calm, and let the emotions flood in, accept them and then rise above them. Never dwell. Don't fear or worry. Anything worth thinking about is worth talking about. And... Good luck.

I really think we should all be as motivated, loud and energetic as he is about Parkour!
It would make the forum more interesting, and awesome then it already is.  8)

Also welcome to APK, don't forget to introduce yourself here, if you hadn't done so already...
http://www.americanparkour.com/smf/index.php/board,184.0.html
(Also make sure to read the forum rules, and post topics were they belong)

If you want to get better at Parkour or Freerunning, train, be safe, ask questions, watch, and learn because knowledge truly is power.

some tips for you:
1. Respect authorities - Stay out of trouble as best as you can, but when approached be respectful as much as you possibly can.
2. Explain to others/authorities what Parkour is - People are curious, but are also sometimes ignorant/fearful of things they don't understand, so prepare to get misjudged sometimes.
3. Safety first, and know your limits - Don't over train or work out, take breaks, and always stretch.
Knowing your limits means knowing what you can't do at the moment. To surpass your limits you sometimes have to go over them, but be prepared as much as you can by learning from and watching others.
