Well, the basic roll starts off as a fighting stance, followed by your arm (the one that is on the same side as your front leg) leading you into the roll, and have all your weight on your back, from when your shoulder blade hits the ground. But everyone has their own way of doing a roll. Hope that helps.

BTW, I think this is the right place to post this. I'm not completely dure, however.

What I do is:
bend down through my knees place both my hands on the ground (fingertips pointing at eachother).
When you place your hands on the ground that very instant shift alyour weight to your front foot. This will
atomatically propell you forward. Lower your right/left shoulder and roll.
I do it this way and everything goes fine!

I'll see if I can post a vid link for you.
So I can show you how I roll.

Maybe your not tucking right.  Because if your starting out rolling on your shoulder and then go straight down once you hit your spine you might be untucking half way through. ....... Just a thought

sounds like you are coming in too straight and you most likely need to go in on your shoulder more and not on the inside i mean the middle

happens to me sometimes too. it might also be the way you come out of your roll. if you start right and you shift your weight that could be try just rolling stay kinda loose and see what happens

well you're supposed to make the first impact with the meat of your back, right next to your shoulder, so maybe be more tucked when you hit the ground could help, but i think there's a thread on roll bruising in the movement section.

cheers
