Hébert training
« on: March 03, 2010, 10:10:42 AM »
Hey, I've been studying a lot of the Natural Method of Georges Hébert, with the idea of building a regular training session both at Primal and in various places outdoors. The Primal Fitness side will focus on skill building, using all the equipment and expertise conveniently hanging around there, and the outdoor session will be more like the application part, and an excuse to get some more running in the mix.

Before the class gets started, I want to do a trial run at the Rock Creek Parcourse this coming Sunday, March 7, 2010

If you're interested, meet me inside the Dupont Circle circle at 9AM sharp (meaning we start moving at 9AM, so be there a bit earlier). My goal is to start from there, head down to Rock Creek Park, follow the parcourse, and run back. Expect lots of running (compared to a Parkour jam), and travel light as we won't stay in any one place for very long.

see if that link works:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=114170918726882655734.000451bc954821cf920c6&ll=38.982898,-76.883698&spn=0.473972,0.85144&z=10

or go to dcmetroparkour.info, Hot Spots, and click on the map. "Rock Creek Parcourse" is the place.

we'll meet at Dupont circle anyway, so it's easy to find each other :)

You could do it all as QM >:D

I don't watch all the forums - I scan "show unread posts" for topics that seem interesting. "Hébert training" is like posting a huge sign saying "Hey, Gregg... read this thread!" and you know it ;D

Talking of QMs, I introduced QM suicides at the gym this week: they were unbelievably hard  ;D

I'll probably avoid getting everyone dead with 3 miles of QMs... this time... and running is still one of those things many of us never really train or like, so that should be enough of a challenge :P

I will borrow your orbiting idea, though. Rounds and rounds and rounds of QMs.

I won't be able to come, don't have a ride.  Some other time perhaps.  3 miles of QM appeals to me greatly.

-QMed about 2 miles. 1st mile. killed me. took about 17 minutes. I Rested up a bit, then went for the second mile.14 minutes ftw.
And that was only PART of his workout.  :o Ugh.

If you break the runs up, it's not so bad. Put some easy climbing, active or static balancing, maybe a balance game [like Frank Forencich], push or pull wars... something so people not used to running can catch their breath. If you're going strictly by the lesson form, torso flexibility exercises between the running and the really hard running...

I LIVE!

It's been too darn long since I've actually been out to train, but on the plus side the Mrs. and I have been doing CrossFit like mad now that we actually live close to one in Frederick. So hopefully I'll find some of these things I haven't done in a while a bit easier. :)

As long as this is still going on, I'm there!

Awesome, guys! I didn't expect such enthusiasm! As I said before, this is a gentle trial run, not a grueling conditioning session (sorry, Rob, not this time). Plus I'm sick as a horse, so I'll take it easy..

..but I heard the weather would be nice and warm to make it more pleasant, and anybody who feels like it can follow with an impromptu jam somewhere (G'town or GWU are not too far from there..). And nobody prevents you to push yourself, of course ;P

And for those who can't make it this time, I'm planning to make it a regular thing, so we'll have plenty of other occasions through the spring and summer and fall :)
