Game Update from urbanfreeflow
We'd like to extend a big thank you to Rebellion for inviting us to playtest the 'Freerunning' game in Derby. Its nearing completion now and is looking very swish indeed! There are a few minor tweaks to be made to names of moves, but as far as gameplay goes, it is a great deal of fun and a refreshing challenge. Over the next few weeks expect new and exclusive screen shots here, an appearance of playable demo's at our Live Lounge event and as the release date draws nearer, plenty of free giveaways.

So there shouldn't be any video games? What should = money? Snowboarding? Skateboarding? BMX? Porn?

Anyway, I say "Cool". Yeah, it probably won't be the best representation of Parkour / Freerunning, but personally I like most ways to spread the word and get more people interested = more people getting a chance to possibly gain benefits from Parkour / Freerunning. If they are actually interested, they will seek more info and find good people in the community to show them the real deal.

As for the game, of course it won't be like real Parkour or Freerunning, so please let's not even bring that one up, that's why it's a game :)

thank you.

ive been sayin that for so long. I dont get why people are saying they are gonna boycott this game and how its gay and all that blah. its not meant to keep you from training, just something fun to do while you cant train.  ::)

well, luckily, it is called "free running"  ;D

the game should be good for if you are injured or going on a long trip to pass some time.

looking very swish indeed!

lol

though I still view it as a bad idea, I guess the idea of a game bothers me less now than it did a month ago.  Still, from a gameplay standpoint, it looks like it wont be fantastic.

I'm afraid of the possible bad effects that may come from this game.  What I mean is idiots (maybe drunk or not) who will try to run across a wall from one rooftop to another.  A kid will try to jump off his roof and believe he will be ok because the video game character didn't die or break his leg.  Kids and idiots one time or another will do something out of their scope and will say they saw it on a video game, freerunning".  Anyway I know parkour and freerunning will always live through the ones who truly ptractice and train.  Reports of injuries are to come.

It will def. have a negative effect on parkours image. I can't wait till I'm out training and hear "gnarly freerunning tic tac 540 to wall run roof gap, sicccccccccck"  :-\

Yeah, I was driving today, someone walked up to the guy in front of me in a porsche, shot him , dragged him out of the car, kicked him, drove the car three blocks, then went for the helicopter. Must have seen it in a videogame. then, this kid who played Prince of Persia ... what's the death count now, 57??

1. Video games don't make or break that innate "sense" that people have to not jump off a roof. If someone is stupid enough to do that, don't blame a video game.

2. Every piece of media to date has had a negative effect on parkour, and every new person says "jeez, I wish there weren't any more new people to come and screw up this new thing I found" ... in other words, we were all new to it once, and we took our time to learn what parkour is, and parkour has more or less survived all of us, and if we work hard to properly educate new people, it will survive them too.

Yes! i agree m2, and aslo calling it gay is sure as hell not going to do anything. The game is comming out whether you like it or not, so now te only really helpfull thing to do (besides call it "the gay" of course ;)) is to just get ready for the people that do make it over to this site when it does come out. There is no use complaining about how it will give people the wrong idea about parkour if we dont do anything to counter-act that.

now before we get ourselve worked up i bet this game wont even catch on with the video game crowd, those things are expensive, and im not going to shell out 40 bucks to buy a game with a bunch of brits jumping off rooves(is that the plural of a roof?  ???) unkess i had some prior knowledge of what it was about.

I think the game will bring some benefits
-One it will spread the word of Parkour to the masses
-and it will encourage people to start

But I don’t think they should even name the vault is the game or at least use their French names (If they do already disregard this because I don’t know much about the game

I probably won't buy it because I don’t play video games that much but I think it sounds cool

i agree with M2, and with most of whats been said. but i do think that we will most likely see a surge of people deciding to jump off their roofs. simply, because you cant capture the feeling of nailing your first kong on a video game, so the producers must then resort to the crazy break-your-neck stunts that can seem cool on a video game. this then shows the wrong side of parkour/freerunning.

i kinda fear this will bring a mainstream aspect to parkour/freerunning. i really hope that it doesnt follow the same path as skateboarding, because i really dislike the whole media, merchandise, and competition of skateboarding. no offense to skateboarders here, just not my thing.

P.S. dont say "gay" instead of "stupid" or something like that. its just mean to gay people and im sure could really offend some people on this forum. i hate to preach, just my two cents.
If youre not living on the edge, your taking up too much space.

One day I played a game called Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2.

a few months later I began inline skating [trick not fitness type] which tremendously improved my health and my overall happiness.

I still played the game too cause in a game you can jump off a 2 story building and bail on a huge trick then get up and grind something.  No risk involved and superhuman awesomeness which is why games are fun.  I'm betting the freerunning game is going to let you do insae stuff no human can do [or at least it better :) ].
I'm so unorigional

The whole UF team spent a day with the game designers playtesting the 99% complete version and its looking very nice. We've requested that a speed vault is put in there along with a more user friendly way of being able to kong. We've also suggested that they rename some of the moves which were the fault of Core Design (who were bought out by Rebellion).
Bottom line is that its a really fun game. For the purists out there, it is 100% possible to play the game by using pure parkour moves with none of the wow techs. However, its also great fun to do all the other stuff too (especially in the gym area where you learn everything).

When the game comes out, anyone who is into Parkour/Freerunning/Tricking WILL want to check it out.........curiousity killed the cat. ;)  The demo that's being doing he rounds on the net for so long, looks hardly anything like the current version.

Would I buy it?  I consider myself a serious gamesplayer and have an Xbox 360, PS2 and PSP. I would most certainly buy it for the PSP to ease the boredom of being stuck on planes, as right now I'm switching between Tomb Raider and GTA (Tomb Raider sucks and GTA is cool but becoming a tired format in need of some zest).

Anyways, you guys do NOT have to worry about the impact of the game (whether good or bad) because its not being released in the US.

Thank you ez for your first hand input. I don't have a psp, but if i did. I would get the game. It's another game, i love games. And it's game about the thing i love  to do. Regardless of weather it features insane stunts, it should still be fun to play.

Thank you ez for spending the time to put all these rumors to rest and clarifying what the game will be like.
