100 Million Pounds!
« on: December 10, 2009, 08:34:16 PM »
We have quite a few threads dedicated to tallying up body weight style exercises like pull-ups and push-ups, but I don't see one for weights. So, to keep from overloading the boards, I decided to make a thread for everyone's weight lifting totals. Regardless of what exercise you do, if it involves weight in addition to your own body, throw the numbers down here. I'm curious to see how long it takes to hit a 100,000,000 pounds of lifted weight.

For instance, one rep of bench pressing 100 pounds equals 100 pounds. 10 reps equals 1,000 pounds. Got it? Cool, let's go!

This weight total is all from today's workout.

+4790 lbs.

4790

Wonder why no one has replied to this thread, sounds like a great motivator.  ???

Here's mine from yesterday's workout.

+9750 lbs

= 14540lbs

I've just gotten back to doing a reduced, faster version of my weight training routine right now because of time constraints.
Anyway, once I get back to my regular weight training routines (which could take another 2-3 months), I'll be posting in the range of 10 tons every session.

^^ Erm, don't you mean +5000 lbs = 19540 ?
Or did you mean to add just 500 lbs which would make it 15040 lbs?

This could be off in a ways... Somebody could do several dozen exercises at high rep sets and move tens of thousands of pounds in a workout. Others may be 3 sets of 5 for three exercises and be moving only a couple thousand pounds. Of course none of this matters if you're not caring about from which exercise they get their weight from. just saying it could be terribly lopsided from person to person for these reasons.

There are times when you want to break down and rage at the heavens. Don't. Stay calm, and let the emotions flood in, accept them and then rise above them. Never dwell. Don't fear or worry. Anything worth thinking about is worth talking about. And... Good luck.

Thats the problem with work volume :)  WV for strength is radically different from WV for hypertrophy :P

I don't think the OP cared about that when he put this up. This is just for fun, and to inspire people to go out and lift some weight.

Anyway, here's mine again:

You shouldn't try to do multiple experiments to calculate linear vertical acceleration over large distances.

I'm going to leave this open solely for the fact that you guys probably need more practice with addition. :P

Next time, finish the others before creating another.
