Parkour Spot: One Worldwide Community

It's still young, but I think this might work.

At the center of parkour lies training and the results thereof -- all of your efforts in parkour should be aligned with this central theme.

Yeah it's always something I've kind of looked forward to, a community that really is the definitive parkour organization, but is actually made by and for other practitioners. Not commercialized like UF has become. And I think Apk has gotten really really close to that level, but exactly, it's "American" parkour. A real worldwide site, encompassing everything and everyone in a nationwide community, if done correctly, could be absolutely amazing, as long as it stays true to its original base, and doesn't intend to hurt or impede individual local communities.

Never seen it before; I like it, it is a great idea. For the people by the people.
Hopefully, it will work.

I can see a problem arising through massive amounts of misinformation being spread through the system.
Then again, people said Wikipedia wouldn't work for the same reason, and today it's the most used encyclopedic source.
But overall, a very dedicated community of experienced people will have to arise and start weeding out the bad info in order for the site to work.

Also works for Anime Vice and Giant Bomb. Both of them operate largely on user-contributions, allowing them to operate with minimal staff. People worry about open sites like that, because "all it takes is one person to screw it up." How easily they forget that dozens, hundreds, or perhaps thousands will be following close by to sweep up the mess.

Scott B, American Parkour is probably not as american as you think. Last month we had 91,970 unique visitors from 162 countries.

What makes something useful is the content and the updating and trimming and value added to that information. For that, we need people's help.

While it's too early to "re-announce", APK has been working on that sort of thing for quite some time now, and getting international communities involved is a big priority of ours. We are always asking for submission to our hotspots map (exact concept of Parkour Spots, but 2 years older) and our links section.

Please check out what we envision being a directory where people can find local training spots, websites, and active helpful contacts worldwide. - This is a work in progress and will require a lot of work.

Parkour Spot is a great idea I think, because it's not tied to any particular organization.

It solves a pretty big problem for all communities, so they can concentrate on other things.

I like the international feel of it...although probably communication part would me most difficult since people use diff languages.  I however am used to/more familiar with apk so will probably remain 1st stop for anything parkour related.
