Im really not happy about this it ruins the vibe, and disipline that parkour has. Now all the kids are going to wanna do it because they saw it on MTV, not because of the disipline or Love for it

EDIT: i know, it's sad. not one of the moves they do is basic. but like DB said "they only want the spectacular stuff."

Hopefully everyone in the US will find there way here or to their local community, where they can be guided along the right path.  People need to stop using MTV and entertainment media as "education"  >:(

Not even CLOSE to basic. Those were all extreme. Looked like fun, but there is no way a viewer can get the right interpretation through those previews. Maybe the show itself will have more explanation though? *fingers crossed*

To be fair... this is a promo. It's supposed to get people to want to watch it. If you had a show that you wanted to promote, would you show the parts about people doing the basics, or would you show the parts about people doing harder and more impressive things?

truth, like a precision driving show, what is better?  People doing donuts in their car in a parking lot (Learning to spin) or people doing 360's in their car through a busy intersection?

But still...  We can only hope that the show will be better in explaining what Parkour is...  probably won't as it is MTV BBBUUUTTTT with shows like Nitro Circus and Fantasy Factory, they've started to make a turn around (Those 2 shows aren't half bad...  still a little heavy on the Jackass side but for the good part, not bad at all)

anyways, we can't prejudge...  even though this is an educated prejudge (Guess vs Educated Guess)...  we won't know until it premiers

the video clip was a little disappointing in terms of what parkour is but i did really like the warning especially the part about parkours motto, hopefully people won't ignore the warning like they do for everything else :P

I don't really think it was that bad. The warning was really great to put in there and
the movements were "spectacular" but that is to be expected. I think this MTV thing
is going to turn out quite well...

I'm sure the show itself might be interesting but the promo I saw was pretty lame.

I don't think there was a clip for more than 3 seconds.
At the center of parkour lies training and the results thereof -- all of your efforts in parkour should be aligned with this central theme.

This bugs me. They're making it looks like something it's not.

I'm going to refrain from commenting on the legitimacy of the promo. But I will say...

HOLY SH!T. Those precisions on the roller coaster frame were INSANE! Everybody's talking about the promo's possible effects, I wanna talk about the action in it! That sequence alone was worth watching.

LOL. Although I will reserve my thoughts, one thing I will say is that I have high expectations of the Traceurs on this show. They all have the upmost respect from me personally, and not just for their physical skills. I don't think they would ever do the community wrong, and they all seem hopeful that the show will be a success in the Parkour community.

Let's hope they don't edit the hell out of this show and make Parkour what it's not meant to be.

This reminds me of the new American Pie movie. Has anyone seen it? At the end it has some Asian kid doing back flips, rolling where you don't need to, more backflips and more backflips (Totally on a wire) and botching up what parkour really is. Oh and they say "Haven't you heard of Pekoar?" Pekoar.... It pissed me off personally because it gives a bad light to what we really do. Also the small Asian kid is totally stereotypical. Anyways this MTV thing reminds me of the movie. So in my opinion Parkour wont belong to the community before long. The media has it and at the way they're taking Parkour it will just become another sport. They should rename MTV to Media television to where young impressionable kids can imitate.

I like it when new people join, but I don't like it when someone goes out and does something stupidly dangerous because they saw some person do it on a show =P
