Exclusiveness?
« on: October 01, 2009, 03:46:36 PM »
So I was thinking about how Hawaii seems like a great place for parkour with an excellent community for it and that if I ever go there I would like to practice taking any classes they give there. My question is that do they have any requirements or something? Do I have to be from the US?

Hi, Yow!

Hawaii is a great place. For parkour, the island of Oahu [where Honolulu is] is the best - it has a lot more paved area than the other islands.

For the classes at CrossFit Oahu there is a fee. There are no other requirements. The jams are all free.

You don't have to be from the US. Ozzi isn't.

Oh that sounds great! I am from Mexico and for now I am unavailable to travel that far. But if I ever want to go there I wanted to know there would always be an option to do parkour there. Specially because of all the great traucers I've seen that are in Hawaii

Where in Mexico are you? I was just at the Monos Urbanos site, looking around.
If I'm reading right, their forum isn't very busy, but they have some great photos and videos.
It seems more like Facebook, where people comment on each others' pages

Coahuila which is right below Texas. I did tried their forum and all but because there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity in the forums I moved over here. Besides, I kind of prefer english when talking about parkour.

Yeah Facebook is where there is more communication.

Yep. TXPK has some great traceurs, but I prefer HIpk.
Are you in Saltillo or Torreon or one of the other larger cities?
How many people do you usually train with?

Torreon  :D

Wow finally someone who knows about Mexico!

Used to train with the local group but stopped going because I didn't felt too comfortable so I just practice by myself; I like to see it this way: One big city and it is all for me ;D

In the other forum I was I asked if there could be any jams or something similar to where I usually go everytime I go the US but never got an answer.

I just Google, and read fast. I'm trying to learn Spanish, but it's hard for me.
I train mostly by myself because the guys on Maui are all spread out, and we have a hard time meeting together.
I like to think "One big island, and it's all for me and Shiloh"

Sorry - that was last year... didn't read the fine print :D

Jereme has weekly training in San Antonio
Saturdays at 11am at the Tower of the Americas
We meet on the deck with the wooden tree in the center

Sundays 6pm-8pm at River City Gymnastics

What did you tried to do with Google?

Usually McAllen for holidays.

Look up Coahuila, Monos Urbanos, etc.
Try to find out when jams are in Texas

I don't see anything for McAllen except this:

Yeah I'll try that next time I am going. Now the problem would be timing. If I go when there are no jams and if when I don't go there are jams

Si de hecho me gustaria viajar a Hawaii algun dia pero no tengo con que ir XD
Sigo en prepa apenas

Yes, APK chat would be nice for times like this. Or when I'm trying to get your attention ;D

Gracias a Dios por traducción de Google!

Don't worry too much about + or - points. As long as you're respectful and try to help, that's what really matters.
NewEnglandPK.com has chat, but nobody uses it. It's frustrating.

I have some paperwork I need to type up, so hasta la vista! See you all tomorrow.

Aloha Yow.  Mexico is a place I wanna visit too man. Surf, city, culture. Pk now.   :)

Just adding, I think chat would be awesome.  More direct and personal communication, if wanted.  Could have like, ask question night to the Alliance.  I dunno, sounds useful though.

Yeah it would definitely be useful when you just want to get an answer right away to keep training

BTW Mexico has some great vacational places. I don't recommend Torreon though. Mazatlan or Cancun are great for their beaches
