it depends on the camera. But they can end in usb, and firewire.

I would guess its mini usb on the end that goes in your camera and usb on the other.

You hace a Mini DV Camcorder.  So you should be using firewire.  It will work much better than USB.

Firewire (IEEE 1394) is faster than USB 2.0.  Most (if not all) mini DV camcorders use firewire. They may also have USB ports. But it is best to transfer the video on the firewire.  Mine has Firewire, USB 2.0, and S-Video.  I use the S-Video and Firewire to transfer video and the USB 2.0 to transfer pictures.

Maybe before you go giving advice like that faulkner you should maybe realize that Firewire isn't that much faster that it will make a huge difference.  Also everybody has USB but firewire is rare depending on which firewire.

Sat Santokh I give advice when I know what I'm talking about. I am A+ certified, have years of networking experience, and I am currently a Production Manager at a local tv station.  I think I know what I'm talking about when it comes to computers and video.  Also IEEE1394 is the standard firewire.  I haven't ever heard of any other kind (not saying there isn't) and I have used it on many different platforms from networking to video transfer.

Wow I just re-read my post and I'm extremely sorry for how that came out.  What i was trying to say is that there is two I guess you would say sizes for firewire.  As seen here.  http://www.adorama.com/images/Product/VDCFA6402.JPG

Yeah.  There is a mini connector.   General the camcorder end is the smaller one.

I would go with what your computer will take. Not every computer has firewire but if it does use it.  You can get a firewire cable for less than $20.  If your computer just has USB use that.

There are many different cords you could use actually your III or w/e cord goes into the camera to usb, or firewire and some other things, mine is wireless lmao:). You could get a firewire cable for $10 or less from radioshack.
