I tried out silk screen t-shirt printing for fun the other week and here's a design I came up with...was tons of fun...probably cost me about $3 to make total. you can either use contact paper (1 time usage) or make a silk screen design outling it in mod podge (multiple uses).
Basically you need
1. embroidering hoop ($1)
2. some kind of mesh material that paint can go through (I used a plastic screening thing I had left over from fixing a screen door)
3. Mod Podge (I already had)
4. paint (supposed to use fabric paint, but that's expensive, acrilic worked fine for me)
5. cheap cotton shirts (you can get a 6 pack of shirts from walmart for $10)
6. (optional) contact paper instead of embroidering hoop, mod podge, and mesh material
Using contact paper
a. cut a design out of the contact paper using a razor blade
b. stick it straight onto the shirt
c. fill in design with paint & let dry
d. cover design with paper and iron over for 3-5 minutes
e. enjoy
Using screening technique
a. pull mesh material tight across embroidering hoop
b. trace desired design onto mesh material in hoop
c. paint mod podge around material and let dry (takes long time)
d. paint in the design with paint and let dry
e. cover design with paper and iron over for 3-5 minutes
f. enjoy
