I am quite the grammar nazi
« on: June 02, 2009, 10:43:55 AM »
Normally I don't care, but the thing I see most on the Internet is misusing your/you're.

You probably don't care.

Just forewarning you in case I smite thee with the mouse of an angry forum crawler because you can't tell the difference.

And as an impromptu lesson:

You're is a contraction of You and are.

EX: You are going to the store
      You're going to the store.

Your is used to denote possession of something.

EX: Is this your hat?
I took of my shoes and put yours on.

Thanks for the time.

Speaking of grammar and spelling...

It's "off", not "of".

You must be new here. In time you will learn that APK is literally infested with grammar Nazis. I personally hate lol'd, as lol stands for laugh out loud. By putting the d at the end, you would be saying that you laugh out louded, when you meant to say laughed out loud. So I think it should be l'dol, but I'm not sure.

Your grammar is not so excellent for a self-proclaimed Grammar Nazi. :P

Wow, somebody actually took the time to do what the rest of us real Grammar Nazis were too lazy to attempt.

Good man.

plus the big one

the title of this topic
the word "Nazi" should be capitalized

"Though all the world may hate us, we are named.
The shadow overtake us, we are known
We're more than carbon and chemicals
Free will is ours and we can't let go
We are the image of the invisible"

Wow. What a great thread.

My friend and I were just being grammar Nazis on Facebook, as well.

BAKABAKASHI! Ich denke, dass wir sollten nur DEUTSCH sprechen, weil Deutsche Grammatik sooooo schwer ist :).

(Oh yes, three languages in one post. )
