Ditto on a lot of what's here.

One of the best aspects of parkour for me is the people.  Everyone I train with is either as weird as me, or puts up with my oddness gracefully.  Then we all scream silly things while training.

It provides freedom in a technology bound and time based world.

So true, what you said reminds me of the "Concrete Jungle" article in the Learn section, It's something that helps you escape the restrictions of the modern society we live in.
For me I find that also it's mental freedom, your mind is just silently focused on feeling your movements through the environment, instead of thinking about the negatives I experience in other aspects of my life.

I can't wait for the mental freedom aspect. I still think way too much while I'm training. But, seeing that people do get that that state of complete mental freedom, encourages me a lot.

i love parkour because its just about me being better than i was yesterday. there is no need for competion and it gives me a way to incorperate my athleticism and my creativity at the same time !! and you get to learn something that could be potentially usefull and it got me involved with this great community of the most unique and just overal awesome people !!

you cant find that anywhere else

Everytime I train I have the chance to go to sleep that night able to do something that I couldn't do when I woke up that morning, even if it's just tacking a couple of inches onto my precisions. I also get to participate in a physical activity where I don't have to measure myself against anyone but me. Finally, I gain the confidence to know that if I had to move in an emergency situation, I could.

I completely agree. I thought I was in great shape last year (my senior year of highschool) by running daily with XC, track, and adhering to a strict diet (i.e. carb loading with pasta and sandwiches).  Fast forward to when I started parkour and I found out very quickly that I had a long way with diet and fitness to be able to excel in this environment. Now, in addition to parkour, I am Crossfitting 3 times a week with a strict paleo diet and have never felt better.  I can constantly feel improvements after a training session and yet, always see room for improvement. It is addicting.

I decided not to put something deep here.  I'm in this for the physical aspect, the mental and spiritual are my own.
