Any BYU Traceurs?
« on: April 18, 2009, 06:56:29 AM »
So I'm a beginner from Dallas Texas who'll be going to BYU come next fall and was wondering if there were any people who would be willing to teach/train with me when I get up there, and next spring as well.

DECKER, I'd love to meet and work together as soon as I get up there. How can I reach you?

FIII, fairly interested, but I'd need to know details first.

Thanks both you guys!

Hey Tex, my name is Ryan. I run JumpUtah.com, we've been trying to get more people together. There is actually a gym class this saturday at Arete Gymnastics which is near BYU (Just north of it, in Orem), starts at 8 am cost is $5. I know of a couple of guys in your area that might be "active"; I'll try to get in contact with them. I live in Draper (south of Salt Lake city), and as such don't have an intimate knowledge of that area, though come warmer Spring we should have a few jams down there.

Okay I got in contact with Allen. Apparently at BYU they meet on Mondays and Wednesdays around 4-4:30ish. But its not crazy consistent. He told me to have you contact him on facebook. Allen Williams (lives in Provo Utah, studies at BYU). Still working on Rob at UVU though. Hope to see you at Arete on Saturday though

308 S. 1250 W, Lindon UT 84042. Starts at 8:00am - 10:00am. Cost is $5 and its crazy huge and fun. I'll be the idiot directing the class and talking really loud (I do that alot).
10 push ups.

Thanks Ryan!

Question: Is the gym class good for new and out of shape beginners?

Oh most definitly yes. I normally teach the beginners (but I'm having jake and steve take that this saturday), but we all group together at the beginning and at the end so you get the best of both worlds. Also during the last 15-30 minutes of class is free time, so you have the opportunity to ask teachers and fellow students for help on things and try anything too.

Don't be shy, just jump right in, we all want you there.

Do you teach back flips to beginners on the Saturday class? That is the main trick I want to learn.

Yeah definitly, we actually have a world class gymnastic coach who participates in the class, so that helps a lot. But generally during the last 30 minutes we go over anything and everything. If we push the class fast and hard, we have longer to do that.
