Ok i want to put this out here on my view of the park. Yes i would love the park and i back it with all that i have. People seem to be getting a fuss over discapline and the name parkour. Ok so heres what we do we say that this new park version of parkour was branced off of the original parkour, The Free parkour. Why not give it a new name like they do in skateboarding as vert and street. I'm not saying to call it any of those names that i just suggested but by what i have seen and heard of freerunning that is the best choice for the name of this new branch off of free parkour.

jmann - that may work, but people will eventually figure out that what they are doing is Parkour and then they'll just start calling it Parkour and who knows, maybe even give it a bad name.  I ono, im just paranoid i guess ::)

I dont think theres anything wrong with what the people on this site say. I think we all have a good understanding of what it is, the discipline, etc.  I just think that people that arent as willing to listen adn understand and learn as us will screw it up.

I would like to think of a new name for parkour that we can use when we are talking about competitions and stuff like that so the parkour discipline isn't trashed.

Why do that?  Thats like hiding.  It would seem like we're ashamed of what it really is.  Thats not right.  Skateboarding can change the name because of the different types of skateboarding and skateboarding competitions.  They can do they because its appropriate.  You cant rename Parkour just so people dont know what your talking about or something.  That would be like going all the way back to France and changing the name of Parkour.

My two cents...

Either, admit the fact that people wont listen and wont understand and let time tell what will happen to the name of Parkour, or...just...dont condone parks.  Only two options I see.

I have mixed feelings.  I dont really know.  I mean...it would be a great place for people who practice Parkour to train and practice, but yeah...like I said before...people wont listen and understand...

blah blah blah.

EDIT:  I keep saying "people who practice Parkour"...why dont I just say Traceurs...stupid...lol.  I appologize for that...i just realized that one.

You could just call it a freerunning park.  I'd suggest using the name "l'art du deplacement" but I feel that would taint would the Yamakasi do, too.  But "freerunning" is a term that no longer applies to parkour at all and has NEVER had a connection with l'art du deplacement.  It could be an effective name.

That could work.  I mean, does freerunning really have a name to taint?  I dont really think it does.  I think Parkour would be a worse name to taint than freerunning (not to be insulting)

Glad to see that you agree with my earlier comment about it being called freerunning Animus Light. Like how it rolls off of the tounge, Freerunner park. You came up with the park part. TXPKFRP Texas parkour free running park is what i hope to see one day.
