Vibram Fivefingers are also supposed to be great for getting that barefoot feel.

Hmmm, in my opinion, though, if you're going to get THAT close with a shoe that looks really funky, you might as well just go all out barefoot :P.

...well...
I probably won't ever stop spamming the FiveFingers just because I think they're the greatest thing since buttered toast.  If you're into barefoot training and you've got feet like armored tanks, don't bother with them.  However, if you're like me, your feet probably aren't as indestructible as you'd like them to be.  Broken glass, metal shards, sharp rocks, and other debris have a tendency to make my toes bleed.  Hence, FiveFingers.  They're a little expensive, but if you want the barefoot experience without the pain of pulling out bloody splinters from your feet, these might work for you.  However, KC is probably choosing the wisest path with his Feiyues.  They're cheap, they're light, and they work.  That's my two cents.

You have already made the decision, you will just spend the rest of your life figuring out why.

For under $50 you should check out the Asic Gels, pretty nice shoe overall.

But I generally rock New Balance or Brooks (since I'm also a distance runner), but am waiting to test out a pair of the 5.10 Savants. I'm kinda on edge about them though, I've worked incredibly hard to get my technique to a finessed point and don't want something with insane grip to over-rule that and make me dependant.
