Ann's PK Documentary Featuring the Ladies of New York!
« on: January 13, 2009, 03:16:35 PM »
Here's my parkour documentary, hot off the press. I talk about my first day of training with David Belle, and how that factored into starting the ladies' jams in New York City. Let me know what you think!

Incredible.
I really can't find the words right now to describe how inspiring this was to me.

I disagree with some things one of the other women said about men training. But it was a great documentory, how great would the first day of training be if it started with David BElle.

I liked the whole thing -- except where a woman said "I can never do that" -- no one should ever say "I can never do that" :P

Great video. Some quick criticism:

Your first jam was with David Belle??!!! I envy that.
The part where that one woman says something along the lines of "Men can just go out there and pull themselves up and over things because they don't have to exercise at home at all". That's only true to a certain extent. Conditioning is still needed to perform good quick climb ups and pull ups. In fact, many boys around 10-14 can't do a single pull up because they never get any exercise in.

Just felt like that needed to be pointed out :P.

I don't think she actually meant "I can never do that." She said that watching men in PK vids online made her FEEL like they were doing something she couldn't. Right afterward, she said that seeing women doing the same thing as the guys made her feel like she COULD start parkour.

Awesome video, Ann. It is definitely one of the best and deserves to be on the front page of APK. I may not fully understand but I can sort of see things from women's point of view. The majority of my life I've been raised/hung out with girls, to the point of being constantly confused whether or not I'm gay. :P I'm also pretty weak, and get jealous of the other guys' abilities, but at the same time, they are showing me how far I can go. Hopefully you girls use this as an example, and use the guys you train with as an example of how far you can go. Keep it up, and a major +1 for the awesome vid!

Very inspiring. This makes me want to train harder.

thats probably because you're gay  :P

when i was 20, now i can do 20... hahahaaa..... seriously i had no upper body strength, which is why i got into parkour. I liked the video a lot, showed some true progression. All the other mumbo-jumbo hoo-haa that everyone seems to be griping about is secondary to that. I hope to see more videos in the future.
