Awesome, glad to see people picking up on this, frankly I'd like to see more of the "rolling on a hard surface" or "progress from safety to speed vault" or "work on my foot placement and timing for all moves" type of posts - all levels welcome!!

Not really any particular order.  I'll have a lot more time to train so I'm expecting a great deal of improvement in this period of time.
1. Clean up the time between my climb up and top out so that it becomes one fluid movement instead of two separate ones.
2. More distance on reverses.
3. Solid reverses with non-dominant side.
4. Quicker reverse safety vaults (hesitating to jump, fear of missing or slipping on the rail with my foot).
5. Approach rail kongs with more power and confidence.
6. More confidence in rail precisions and foot placement on rails.
7. Stick 50 precisions in a row.
8. Train barefoot more often.
9. Clean up my side flip.
10. Perform a b-twist.
11. Clean up my front lever.
12. Put away the camera and train.

When faced with the stress of a life-threatening engagement, we don't rise to the occasion, we descend to our level of training.

So, in many other "disciplines"....especially religious, dietary, or lifestyle pursuits, groups incorporate a level of accountability.  Two people agree to keep each other accountable to certain ideals or expectations, and they check in with each other.  For me, this method is incredibly motivating, knowing someone else is going to actively check to see if I'm following through with my goals.

That said, is there some way we could take this thread to the next step?  It seems we've all got some awesome goals...and I'd love to be there for someone, to help motivate them to pursue their goals, and to offer tips/advice.  Anyone want to keep me accountable?

A consideration...it'd be awesome to have a partner local enough to train with....although, in areas like mine where parkour awareness is nil....

yeah that would be pretty cool. i know i need lots of help! i want to increase my spatial awareness, and get a better handle on the vocabulary and terminology of Parkour! lots of ppl were saying they want to improve this and that kind of trick/movement, and iam sitting here scratching my head!  ??? Lol! could anyone direct me to a decent place to know the movements that i should know as a Traceur? and i am a little into the freerunning and tricking aspects too so any info about that would be most appreciated! Run Well and Fly Hard!

P.S I live in an area where there's not a lot of traceurs.... I can only think of me! Lol! so if there is anyone near marion, north carolina, let me know!

-Max squat over 200lbs.
-Broad jump 6ft.
-Weight 138 --> 145lbs
-QM faster and more fluidly
-1 muscle-up
-10 handstand push-ups against the wall
-build confidence to kong picnic tables (and anything else deeper/wider than a railing) more consistently
-side flip at least one side if not both
-front tuck with running start/punch take-off
-hold a tuck planche for 10 sec.
-FINISH READING STARTING STRENGTH
-4' precision with 2x4 board trainers consistently without losing my balance or having to take a step
-reverse vault a picnic table at speed

[edit]
Hey Tyler, if you have a log I'd be more than happy to take a look/give feedback/etc.

I don't have any traceurs around me either. My main extrinsic motivation is the choice between two situations a) going to Beast Coast and having people say "Wow, he's improved a lot in the past year." and b) going to Beast Coast and having people say "Wow, what a schmuck. He still sucks as much as he did last year."

-Learn the sideflip.
-Gain enough confidence to do a gainer from a 2'+ surface to ground.
-Get back 180 flip down, so I dont land in "crab walk" position anymore.
-Train the novice guys in our team to a higher level to keep up with the advanced ones.
-Get a kong with a straight body twist down without having to use springboard at gym.
-accomplish a front hand spring vault into a cat.
-Find new training spots on the streets.
-Get better at landing/rolling backwards so I can do a 3 step wall backflip.

No particular order. My first priority though is to train the novice guys. It's never fun being good alone.

My goals for this winter...

1. Strengthen my ankles... a lot.
2. Increase my general explosivity... this sounds really broad and it kinda is. :-P As someone who has run a lot of long distance in his life, I need to work the fast twitch muscles a lot.
3. Work on losing my fear of height (and be able to handle other conditions like ice that mentally mess with my movements more than they should).

I'm going to start a training journal as well, I'll copy this into the first post. I guess I'm cheating a bit, these aren't just for winter... but oh well.

Goals:

Injury/Health:
1) Finish fixing final 5% of elbow pain.
2) Eliminate dysfunctional inflexibility in the upper back
3) Complete final 15-20% of posture correction in hips (currently tilted down a bit too much)
4) Full splits.
5) Correct shoulder posture (linked to #2?)
6) Figure out what's causing burning sensation in instep when I run for longer than 1/4 mile (and fix it).

Tricking/gymnastics/Parkour:
1) Increase the height on my side summi
2) Round-off back handspring & round-off backtuck
3) Flashkicks
4) Hold a handstand consistently for 10 seconds.
5) Frontflips from a height of 3 ft.
6) Feel comfortable throwing back layouts outside.
7) Feel comfortable throwing wallflips outside.
8) 6ft Rail precision
9) Work on getting more distance from reverse vaults (see: Jereme)

Strength/Fitness:
1) Squat: 300#
2) Deadlift: <FILL THIS IN LATER. Need to determine current max>
3) Chest press: 165#
4) Increase vertical jump by 12 inches
5) Increase horizontal jump by a foot length
6) Press-handstand progressions
7) 10 muscle ups on bar (with no elbow pain).
8) Explosive pike pushups
9) Stair progression of explosive pushups

I think that's good for now. I have lots of other goals in other areas too... you should see my juggling goal sheet. It's probably six times longer than this list.

Not in any particular order...

1. Simple tricking stuff... front/back tuck, wall flip, gainer(?), side flip
2. Work on traverses... not sure what a specific goal would be except just be able to go a lot longer than I am able to atm
3. General endurance: sprints and longer periods of intense movements
4. Achieving and maintaining that "traceur mental state"... where you're just in the moment and don't allow silly fears or distractions to interfere with what you know you can do.
-Never giving up, never failing to work out when I know I can
5. Perfect handstand => HSPUs
6. Disabling my tendency to show-off. I've found that I get a wee bit too excited and hurt myself... not productive, a bad way to show off, and just dangerous
7. Flawless rolls and dive rolls over both shoulders
8. Developing more solid and organized workouts for use in teaching others

There's probably more ways to improve, as there always are, but these will be good starting point. Great idea for a thread Mark :D. Good luck to everybody, don't get too fat this holiday season :P

dude i like these goals!

mine:

i want stronger precissions...   who doesn't? ::)
i want my precissions to be so quiet you couldn't hear them if you tried!
i want blane clim-ubs!
i want to clean up my muscle ups and get dead hang without a false grip.
perfect my straight arm press
ONE ARM HAND STANDS!!!
i need to get my roll both ways. it still feels very awkward the other way.
more confidance to perform basic movements while under pressure, in an all out escape situation i still feel like i would avoid many obstacles that would give me the upper hand.
over all flexibillity especially full splits, and i want to put may palm on the ground when stretching my hams in the standing possition.
raise max bench from 185 to 200
raise DB bench from 75s to 85s x3

I really like these especially the one about training others, you'r right, sometimes you want another person at your level to train with.

Standing Back - Very close.
Frontflip - Really bad from right now :s
Sideflip - can't get down the form very well but hoping to excel.
Muscle up - I can do a really bad one right now so I'm hoping to get better at that.
Better Rolls - why not?
More strength etc... :)
