Downtown DC Training Grounds Exploration - Sunday, September 21
« on: September 18, 2008, 08:58:50 PM »
Come one, come all!  I know this is close to last minute and all, but who is up for finding new places to practice in the area around the Gallery Place-Verizon Center Metro station?  Sunday evenings downtown tend to be quiet affairs, so this might be a good opportunity to investigate some new training grounds.  I anticipate a very informal gathering, perhaps meeting at around 5pm on the north side of the Portrait Gallery.  (7th & G Street NW)

I like to touch different kinds of surface textures.
Parkour lets me do that without feeling weird.

If all goes well with the ankles tomorrow, I'm there.  Even if it's just for one vault....kz

Zac, you silly suburbanite, there's no need for body armor in DC.  Unless you were thinking about some masochistic training exercise.

And thanks to those of you who made it today.  Quality jammage, exciting new discoveries, surprise guest visitors, and a beautiful sunset.  Who could ask for anything more?  We'll definitely organize something larger to showcase to the DC community the hidden gems that downtown has to offer.

Cheers!

My first jam! So exciting, I'm a real traceuse now. More importantly, posted the quad vault/roll combo vid to Facebook. I'd post here, but since I'm a confirmed Luddite, y'all should just be impressed I found the forums in the first place. kz

Might be a stupid question, but.. what's a Luddite?

And I'm sorry I couldn't attend, guys, but yesterday was a special day for me.  Next time it happens and I'm free.. you betcha.

Thanks for organizing it, Rob.  The evening was totally fun.  It emphasized that you can find something to trick on almost anywhere.  And great to hang out with everybody.  Karen, will you post a link to the facebook footage?

A luddite is generally used as a term for someone who is against technology.

Originally: The Luddites were a social movement of British textile artisans in the early nineteenth century who protested—often by destroying mechanized looms—against the changes produced by the Industrial Revolution, which they felt threatened their livelihood.

See now, the one problem with that link is that it requires a Facebook account. And yes, just because I'm the youngest of those who attended the jam I should have a Facebook account. But I don't, and have actually made it a point not to have a Facebook/MySpace account, so what am I to do?  :-Sarcasm
