Sorry about the repeat, I like to have a personal reply when someone quotes/references a post of mine.

sorry, i know that it has been a while but i finally got around to digging up some articles about milk and lactic acid, like i promised, despite the discouragement from steve  :P . i just googled "milk lactic acid" and although i dont know about the credibility, there are a few. they basicly say that plain milk does not contain lactic acid, as i had believed, and only has lactate. however soured milk does contain lactic acid, this would include dairy products such as yogurt and cheese.

some quick ones:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactic_acid
http://www.answers.com/topic/lactic-acid
http://www.tempeh.info/fermentation/lactic-acid-fermentation.php
