Wisconsin Statewide Training Tour: July 2009!
« on: August 14, 2008, 09:39:14 PM »
Hello, fellow Cheeseheads! :)

Madparkour (in Madison) and PK Squirrel (in Waukesha) are planning a statewide training tour for next summer. We are tentatively looking at July 2009 for our road trip, but of course we are still in the planning stages.

What we'd like to do is visit as many cities and towns in the state as possible to meet up with as many traceurs/traceuses as we can for training. If you are a beginner or are experienced, it doesn't matter to us; we are just looking forward to meeting our fellow Wisconsin traceurs and seeing what's out there to train on, and to teach and learn from one another. This is not so much a formal "jam" situation as it's just a way for us to meet as many practitioners around the Badger State as we can, so we can all learn from one another and have fun.

If you've been wanting to train with a group but have a hard time meeting other traceurs in your area, or have a hard time finding spots, this is a great opportunity for you. We would LOVE to visit and see what is going on with parkour all over the state!

Once again, this is VERY informal. If you are an experienced training crew of 10 traceurs, or a single person in a small outpost town "Up Nort'" who's just started training, we are interested in meeting with you and training together. Please don't be shy! We want to meet as many people as we can. Please don't think, "Oh, there are no cool spots near me!" because there are cool spots EVERYWHERE!

If you are interested in having us visit your area next summer, please let us know, as it will help us plan our itinerary.

Also, if anyone would be willing to offer lodging (even if it's just floor space!) for the 1-2 nights that we will be in each place, that would be extremely appreciated.

Please let us know in this thread if you'd like us to include you on our "tour" itinerary, and also if you'd be willing/able to help us out with lodging/crash space.

Happy training! Hope to see/meet many of you next summer!

This is what Joey, of PK Squirrel, posted over at Madpk about this:

Quote
I just wanted to stress the fact that we (PK Squirrel and MadPK) are coming to where you train. We want to train with you with what ever you have... for example myself and the rest of PK Squirrel live in a rural town with a few picnic benches and nothing else, so if all you have is a bench or a tree and would like us to stop by let us know and we would love to train where you train and how you train. We are one state lets make it one Parkour Community as well :D

I couldn't agree more; this is exactly what it's all about: getting together and training across the state and building our community!

We could use this in Michigan.... Too bad I can't get involved, but this is a great idea for other groups to try. :)

Maybe you should just get all the boats, tie them up to the docks, and have them all go in the same direction and pull Hawaii back to, I don't know, civilization?

Awesome, Damu! Green Bay is on the list! :)

More details to come as next summer gets closer.

So far we have:

Madison
Milwaukee
Green Bay

We have to have more than three cities on there! Anyone else?

I no longer live there but twin lakes Wi. could realy use this I moved out like a year ago and if you look around the town there are some realy nice spots, not sure if anyone there dose parkour, but hey thats part of what this is about is exposing this to wisconsin and makeing sure you can get as many people as posable so yea, I'll let you know as the dates get closer if I can come back in state for this, as soon as I know you'll know but I have to do basic down in Ga first.

Muse, its small, but its my home town.
Mayville has some nice urban spots for only supporting 5,000 ppl

you've seen our vids and it would be cool to have MadPK here for a training weekend in the summer!

Sounds great, Michael! For me the size of the town isn't important, it's just the chance to train with traceurs from all over the state, wherever they may be!

We'll add Twin Lakes, Muskego, & Mayville to the list tentatively. They all sound great! The final places will be determined by our availability of funds/time, and efficiency of route (go figure) :) throughout the state.

Anyone else want to throw a suggestion out there for places we could visit? We'd like to see as many places as we can!

I was thinkin, at the end of the summer-
after you visit places all over the state, we could all gather back in madison for a final "jam"....?

that would be pretty cool

Hey all, its been sooooo long since I've posted anything. Been out of the game for a long while, since the Midwest Jam to be exact but that is a whole other story. Appleton isn't too bad by my standards and I'm sure we could hook up some lodgings along the way. I've been to Waukesha but have not run there at all, really wanted to though. Other than that its just nice to jump back on the forums again as I need to work up the strength just to run up a simple basement flight of steps...sick is lame. July looks to be the month for Wisconsin though. Looking forward to it either way. Peace all.

Hey James! :D I was wondering where you'd gotten off to! Good to see you again!

We'll be posting more details about this as the planning gets underway. Don't be a stranger!

Hey, you guys should really come to Manitowoc.  I know a bunch of people at the high school who would come, and it'd be great to have someone who knows what they're doing teach us some things.

Thanks for the suggestion! We are gradually working out our itinerary now--we will see what we can do! Keep an eye on this thread, we should have places/dates announced by mid-May or so!
